Facial Specialist Insurance Benefits, Highlights, and Coverage

Being a licensed beauty expert in facial treatments means you have the skills to improve your clients' appearance and boost their confidence. You always focus on your client's needs, providing them with your full attention. However, even the best facial specialists may face claims over accidents during treatments or in the salon.
One of the most cost-effective safeguards available is to have facial specialist insurance. We offer comprehensive facial specialist insurance coverage to protect your career and identity.

What is Facial Specialist Liability Insurance?

Facial specialist insurance serves to protect beauty professionals from the potential expenses of liability lawsuits and claims. In their role, facial specialists work hand-in-hand with clients to help them achieve their beauty goals.

The beauty industry offers a thrilling and fulfilling career path, but it also carries some risks for clients. If a treatment doesn’t go as planned and a client gets hurt, they might seek compensation from the esthetician. This is where facial specialist liability insurance comes into play, as it helps cover any claims made against a facial specialist.

The financial burden of a liability lawsuit or claim is staggering. Liability insurance acts as a protective cushion for your finances. Elite Beauty Society has developed a liability insurance plan specifically for facial specialists, giving you the coverage you need if something doesn't go as planned with a client.

Why is Facial Specialist Insurance Necessary?

While facial specialists are dedicated to providing top-notch care and focus on their clients, mistakes can still occur. Accidents can happen to anyone, and they pose a significant risk in the workplace. If a client gets injured while in your salon chair or during a treatment, they may have the legal right to seek compensation from you.

In today's world, facial specialists are increasingly at risk of facing liability lawsuits or insurance claims. It's important to protect yourself, your career, and your finances, making it a smart investment for your future. Facial specialist liability insurance is the coverage you need to stay secure.

Our facial specialist insurance plan at EBS delivers solid coverage for multiple liabilities. We’re committed to protecting you from general and professional risks, taking your safety a step further with the coverage you need.

Examples of Facial Specialist Insurance Protection

Let's look at some examples of how facial specialist insurance would help protect you in the future:

  • Example one: A client comes in for a chemical peel. As you prepare the treatment, you accidentally spill some of the chemical solution onto the client's face. Unfortunately, some of the solution lands near the client's eye, causing intense burning and discomfort. After seeking medical attention, the client hires a lawyer and holds you responsible for their medical expenses. Facial specialist insurance from EBS could help cover the cost of that lawsuit.
  • Example two: A client is coming in for a facial treatment. While walking through the reception area, the client slipped on a wet floor where a spill wasn't properly marked. The client fell and hurt their back, requiring immediate medical attention and physical therapy. The client demands you pay their medical bills, lost wages, and related costs. In this situation, general liability insurance would be essential to help cover the costs of the lawsuit.

Why You Need To Protect Your Facial Specialist Career

You may rent a salon suite or salon booth/chair. You may work in your own salon or as a freelancer. Buying a facial specialist insurance policy supports and protects your career wherever you go. Liability insurance provides peace of mind and assurance no matter where your career takes you. A little insurance knowledge can empower you to make the right decision when researching and purchasing a professional and general liability insurance policy. Below is a complete breakdown of everything you need to know about a facial specialist insurance policy.

Facial Specialist Liability Insurance FAQs

What Kind Of Liability Insurance Do Facial Specialists Need?

Close work with clients and the use of skin care products and treatments pose a high risk of accidents. So, professional liability insurance is essential. At the least, a policy should provide generous limits for both General Liability and Professional Liability claims to ensure comprehensive protection.

General liability insurance is often called “slip and fall” insurance. This name comes from the fact that, as a business owner, you have a responsibility to make sure your customers stay safe while they are on your property. If a client slipped on water from a treatment basin and fell, you could be liable for their injury costs.

Personal liability is often called “malpractice” insurance. This coverage protects against injuries and other losses while you provide your facial services. For example, if your hand slips while applying a chemical peel and you burn or irritate your client’s skin, they may hold you liable for their injuries.

Personal and advertising injury covers claims related to defamation, slander, or copyright infringement that might arise from your marketing practices. It provides financial protection against legal costs, safeguarding your reputation.

Identity theft protection is important in today’s digital age. With most facial specialists maintaining an online presence, there’s a risk of hackers stealing your information. Our policy includes identity theft protection, helping you recover losses if your data is compromised.

I’m Renting A Chair At A Salon, Do I Need Facial Specialist Liability Insurance?

Absolutely. Facial services may seem tame. But, no matter where, when, or how many hours you work, you’ll use tools that have harmed clients.
While renting a chair at a salon, legally speaking you become an independent contractor. You're not normally covered under the salon owner’s liability policy.
This is why securing your own insurance is important for handling any claims that could occur during your service to clients.

What Are The Coverage Limits Of An EBS Facial Specialist Insurance Policy?

With a facial specialist liability insurance policy from EBS, you’ll have:

  • $2 Million limit for both Professional Liability and General Liability claims, up to a $3 Million Annual Aggregate.

  • $2 Million in Personal and Advertising Injury Coverage

  • $25,000 in Identity Theft Protection Coverage

What's The Difference Between Claims-Made & Occurrence Form Coverage?

A lot of insurance companies provide claims-made coverage because it’s easier for them to manage. With this type of policy, a claim must be submitted while the policy is in effect to receive coverage. We don’t believe in not covering something that rightfully should be, so we offer occurrence form coverage. So, even if your policy is no longer valid, you’re still covered if a claim comes up for something that occurred while your policy was active. It’s just one of the little ways we show we’re here for you.

Do Students In Cosmetology School Need Insurance?

Definitely. Even while still in school, you’ll be practicing your techniques face-to-face with real people.

A small mistake can, unfortunately, lead to a claim against you. Our student policies cost just $49 for a full year of coverage. They offer a cheap way to protect you and your future business from claims against you while in school. You'll also get the same amazing members-only benefits as our pros. They are included in the cost of your student policy.

How Much Is An EBS Facial Specialist Insurance Policy?

Our rates are some of the best in the industry. We provide different options for a facial specialist to choose from so they will find what works best for them and their business.

  • One-year policy, the current rate for beauty care professionals is $179 a year, good anywhere you provide your services in the U.S.

  • For a two-year facial specialist insurance policy, the rate is $299, a $59 savings over buying two one-year policies.

  • Student rates are $49 for a full year of coverage.

Due to demand, we've also made a benefits-only plan available. It offers identity protection, a professional website, and access to many discounts. It all costs just $39 per year.

We have created a full list of coverage for your convenience. If your modality isn't listed, please call or email a sales rep. They can check if we can add it to our list.

How Do I Find The State Board Requirements To Get A License?

The State Board of Cosmetology in the state in which you want to offer services is the governing body that will provide licensure, usually upon completion of education and examination.

For example, the State Board of Cosmetology in Florida requires a full 1,200 hours in an approved cosmetology school and the successful passing of the state-issued examination in order to obtain a license.

How Do I Transfer My Facial Specialist License From One State To Another

The best resource for license information is the State Board, which governs the state requirements where you want to offer services. The process can be lengthy. So, it's best to start early if you want to move your license to another state. Some states do offer reciprocity for licensure, but this varies widely.

For example, the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology says that out-of-state licensees can get a new license. They just need to fill out a reciprocity application and pay a fee. They must also prove their out-of-state license was active for three of the last five years and has yet to be revoked or suspended. Different states often vary in their required education. You may need more training hours to meet your new state's requirements.
