Professional Beauty Insurance Highlights & Coverage

Beauty Insurance Coverage Details

Professional & General Liability

Professional liability is a blanket statement for the potential risks directly related to your occupation. These are industry-specific incidents that could cause harm to a client. Professional liability can also be known as errors and omissions. In other words, professional liability is something a professional does wrong while working. For cosmetologists, a professional liability may be puncturing a client's skin while giving them a haircut or causing a burn while performing thermal styling.

Professional liability insurance helps protect a worker if they do something wrong that causes harm to a client. Professional liability insurance's protection is an essential component of overall liability insurance. If you're covered with professional liability insurance, you don't have to worry about the cost of a liability lawsuit against you. If you make a mistake and your client gets hurt, professional liability insurance can help keep your finances intact.

If professional liabilities are directly related to your occupation, general liability is the opposite. General liabilities are non-specific to a career or vocation. These risks are universal in any industry. Another way to consider general liability insurance is slip and fall coverage. The incidents covered under general liability can happen in any industry and facility. The most common are trips, slips, and tumbles.

General liability also covers personal property damage. For example, if your client drops their phone while slipping on your floor, general liability could also help cover the cost of replacing their mobile phone.

General liability coverage offers protection from lawsuits involving universal risks or incidents. If a client falls and injures themselves while in your salon, general liability could help protect you from the cost of paying the client's compensation. As general liabilities are common and can happen anywhere, protection from general liabilities claims is essential to cosmetology insurance.

Personal & Advertising Injury

Personal & Advertising Injury will protect you against claims like copyright infringement, libel, and slander. This type of coverage will help protect your reputation in the industry.

Identity Theft Protection

In today's world, more than word of mouth marketing is needed to be a successful cosmetologist. Most beauty professionals today have a massive online presence. Nearly every cosmetologist uses social media platforms to promote their business, manage their finances through online banking, or reach clients through their website. While the era of the internet has provided an excellent opportunity for reaching new clients and engaging your customers, it has also created the potential for loss due to identity theft. If you have any presence online, you are potentially at risk for hackers to steal your information.

Elite Beauty Society includes Identity Theft Protection in our cosmetology insurance policy. We want our policyholders to be well protected from every career threat. While most other cosmetology insurance providers do not offer identity theft coverage, we make it a pillar of our policy. If you lose money due to an online predator, we offer protection to help you recoup your losses.

Beauty Pro Insurance FAQs

We began our company as Beauty Insurance Plus in 2015 and have since evolved into an all inclusive insurance provider for professionals in the beauty industry. We are a company of like minded beauty pros offering the safety and security you need to thrive throughout your career in beauty and wellness. With comprehensive insurance, really sweet benefits, and tons of extras thrown in, our highly affordable plans gives you peace of mind while you pursue your passion. With industry leading coverage for every beauty professional including estheticians, microblading, make up artists, and cosmetologists, our beauty insurance coverage delivers when you need it most and every day in between.

At Elite Beauty Society, our plans are designed with convenience in mind. We offer several different options for beauty professionals to choose from including:

  • One Year of Professional Beauty Insurance $179.00
  • Two Years of Professional Beauty Insurance $299 (saves $59)
  • One Year of Student Beauty Insurance $49.00
  • Adding Microblading coverage to your policy $499.00
  • One Year of a Benefits Only Plan (all the benefits, just no insurance) $39.00

We also offer the option to add additional businesses to your policy. Sometimes if you are renting a booth in a salon the landlord will automatically require this. You can add a business for just $10 per year or $15.95 for a two-year policy. Throughout a policy term you may find you have multiple businesses to add, in that case consider the unlimited additional businesses package for $30 per year.

Events big and small will happen throughout your career and even for the most practiced beauty professionals, there are many incidents that you simply cannot plan for. You may have a long history with a particular client and then have a situation where a new product you use leads to an adverse allergic reaction. Now, a once-trusted client suddenly demands you pay for all of their medical costs. Without beauty insurance, this sum comes straight out of your hard-earned revenue.

Beauty insurance provides you with great coverage limits in the areas of general and professional liability.

Microblading may seem like it’s outside the realm of beauty insurance, but with our comprehensive program developed just for beauty professionals, you have the option to add full and complete microblading insurance coverage.

Your insurance policy is a contract between you and your insurance company. Whenever you sign a contract, you should understand the basic provisions. With beauty insurance, consider first the completeness of coverage. Beauty insurance needs to provide enough of a safety net for the most common events.

Most claims faced include liability related to your premises, called general liability, and/or liability related to the services you provided to a client. The best beauty insurance policy will provide all of these protections plus a benefits plan full of deals from leading names in beauty like BehindTheChair and GlossGenius. Since our beauty insurance program contains all of these things, it looks like you’ve come to the right place!

With Elite Beauty Society, we include both liability protection, as well as additional coverage areas to make sure that our members are completely surrounded by top-tier insurance. There’s coverage for general liability and professional liability which include millions in coverage limits. From there, you’ll also have an identity protection plan for the greatest level of protection possible from today’s risks. From slips and falls to the damage done to rented booth space, you can rest easy knowing you’re fully protected with a solid cosmetology insurance plan.

We make it easy to select a payment option that’s right for your current situation. Rates do change so always check out the Secure Application page for the most up-to-date pricing. At present, you have options both for full-time professionals and part-time hair stylists. You can save money by purchasing a two-year option up front, can go with paying a one-year term up front, or even break up your premium into easy monthly payments if that appeals to you. Accessible insurance is all about providing the greatest flexibility possible so that our members can get in, get what they need, and get back to helping their clients look and feel their best.

Absolutely! We completely understand that an esthetician might be providing a micro-dermabrasion appointment in the morning and a waxing in the afternoon. Our plan is 100% based on the real world today’s beauty pros operate in which includes covering more services all under one plan. Other insurance options can limit you to a “core modalities” list of only a handful of services but that’s not how we do things. You’ll get covered for literally hundreds of different services all simultaneously under our all-inclusive insurance plan. We also understand the industry is constantly evolving so continue to add even more services to this list all the time.

Do you ever. We are all about providing the best insurance for cosmetologists and other beauty pros possible but also understand a plan needs to go even further to deliver a great experience. That’s why we include a member benefits plan that provides you with awesome freebies like a professional and customizable website to get you online, preferred group rates on additional insurance, industry product and tool discounts, access to free trials, libraries of curated beauty content, and so much more. In fact, you get access to more than $500 in member perks instantly the moment you sign up.

Yes, we do offer monthly payments through PayPal's Pay Monthly program! While monthly payments can be very convenient, we do recommend that you pay in-full so you can skip the credit check. PayPal will split-up the cost of your policy, plus a fee, over the period of time that you choose. There is zero interest if you do pay off the full cost of your policy within 6 months however, after that, interest charges could apply.

To begin the process of filing a claim, please reach out to our dedicated Ops Team via sarasota.bsd.operations@ajg.com. They will confirm your coverage, verity your information, and ask that you fill out our Claim Summary Form. Depending on your specific situation, we might require you to send additional documentation. After that, our team can handle the rest and walk you through any next-steps needed!

To access a copy of your certificate of insurance (COI), you just need log into our member portal, locate the left-hand menu, and tap/click on 'Certificate of Insurance'. If you’d prefer, or if you have issues accessing your COI, you can call-in and one of our reps can email a copy to your inbox.

Your policy applies anywhere that you provide your services! No matter if you’re a makeup artist who is helping a bride look their best on their wedding day or spray tanning a client at their home before a date or at a client’s home. As long as you follow local and state regulations, your coverage is valid in all 50 states.

Absolutely! Our beauty insurance program was designed specifically for today’s professionals on-the-go. We know many beauty pros deliver their services in a mobile or even blended environment. No need to worry if a change in locale means a drop in your coverage through us. No matter where you provide services; whether that’s as an employee in a salon, as a sole proprietor providing mobile services, as a professional providing cosmetic services in the mall, and no matter where your career takes you, with Elite Beauty Society your policy is fully portable in all 50 U.S. states.

Liability insurance for estheticians and other professional beauty miracle workers is undeniably important for long-term success. Like a giant safety net stretching out under your career, esthetician insurance is there for any potential mishaps. Estheticians, cosmetologists, nail technicians, hair stylists, and makeup artists—are all incredibly skilled professionals. But, let’s face it, accidents are everywhere no matter how good you are or how full your appointment book is. That’s where liability insurance is so vital.

Liability insurance from Elite Beauty Society is all about providing top-tier protection at affordable rates, with immediate and tangible benefits from day one. We’ve worked hard to build the very best esthetician insurance available by setting smart limits based on real-world conditions today’s beauty professionals face. We take it further by making our policies some of the most accessible you’ll find. No long questionnaires just to get a rate and no long waiting periods. Signing up for cosmetology insurance with Elite Beauty Society will probably be the easiest task you undertake today. As soon as you’re through with a quick online application, you’ll enjoy immediate access to all your plan documents and a full suite of member benefits you can start using right away.

The best esthetician insurance is the plan that fits your current situation and future aspirations. Esthetician insurance is meant to provide value. It acts as a wall of protection and a support network to help you provide your best at work without worrying over the what-ifs. At Elite Beauty Society, we provide an excellent suite of protection mechanisms for the most prevalent types of risks estheticians will face in their careers. We also provide an unmatched level of support in the form of curated content, discounts, and deals on top products and services, a free website, and so much more from day one. The blend of coverage, benefits, and affordability is what we believe sets our plans apart and is why so many beauty professionals continue to rate their experience with Elite Beauty Society so highly.

At Elite Beauty Society, we provide liability insurance coverage to a wide range of beauty and wellness services. For starters, we offer comprehensive beauty insurance coverage for professional estheticians, professionals offering microblading, cosmetologists, insurance for salons, makeup artists, nail technicians, spray tans, and even students still in beauty school. In addition to these, many forms of massage are also covered. See the more than 350 different services we currently cover here.

From clicking on the policy option that’s right for you, filling out the application, and checking out, the process usually only takes a few minutes. When you’re all done, you have instant coverage and access to proof of coverage through the member portal.

We appreciate you need the best bang for your buck and designed our policies to be the best blend of coverage and affordability. Knowing you’re protected in the event of an accident is great but what happens when you don’t have to utilize this coverage? To give our members continuous value for their investment in us, we provide one of the best benefits programs in the industry. By fostering relationships with recognized leaders in beauty, we’re able to secure exclusive discounts and early access deals from names you know and trust like Paul Mitchell and Redken. Completely free benefits include a free professional website to advertise your services online and a subscription to a beauty publication of your choice.

Many state boards for nail stylists do require insurance in order to maintain licensing to provide nail services. However, this is not universal and many locations do not require insurance to practice. That being said, operating without any nail salon insurance is incredibly risky. A slip of the wrist could injure a client in a heartbeat or a leaky water fountain could send them tumbling to the floor. Accidents come in all shapes and sizes even to the most experienced nail techs. Rather than risk all the hard work you’ve put in mastering your techniques and building your brand, it is so much more cost effective to secure affordable (some say cheap nail salon insurance) from Elite Beauty Society. We prove that great coverage doesn’t have to break the bank with a full suite of liability protection and additional safeguards to let you do what you love with complete confidence.

With Elite Beauty Society, you can get complete coverage in just a few minutes’ time. A lot of other insurance companies require super long questionnaires where you have to provide a ton of personal information just to get quoted. We followed a different tact with upfront pricing and a quick and easy online application that generally takes under five minutes to complete. As soon as you checkout and pay your premium, you’ll have access to everything your plan provides including your cosmetology insurance COIs, member benefits, and more.

Bottom line, yes and yes. If you rent booth space, you are most likely operating as a 1099 contractor. That means you’re like your own small business. It’s great for tax purposes and building your clientele but it also means you can be held wholly responsible for an accident or mishap in your station. Even if the salon you’re operating out of has a policy, it may not cover you directly or may not be adequate if you do happen to need it. That’s why a policy that’s 100% yours and yours alone is a much better way to protect yourself against risks. The top additional protection to note for booth renters that we include is rental damage coverage. If you happen to accidentally damage your landlord’s property, they may hold you liable to pay for repairs. That’s why our policies include all the way up to $100,000 to help you cover the cost of repairs to a rented space.

No one likes to think about the possibility of a mishap occurring while they are in the beauty business. Chances are, you’ve studied hard, worked through cosmetology school, and are building your reputation by providing one great service after the next. But the truth is, even if you are the most diligent and careful cosmetologist in the world, there are sometimes accidents you simply can’t predict.

General liability is just one of the many types of risks out there for any professional. This “slip and fall” coverage is deliberately broad because accidents in and around your place of business come in almost limitless forms; however, the namesake slip and fall is still quite prevalent. If we use that event as an example, it could be a client coming in and slipping on your freshly mopped and sanitized floors. Medical bills lost wages, rehab, and more can add up quickly and be demanded from you in a lawsuit. At under $1 a day, the insurance coverage you have that protects you from events like these and so many other types of risk is almost a no-brainer.

There are no differences between the part-time and full-time policies except for the price ($149 vs. $179) and the amount of hours you spend each week working directly with/on your clients–both policies give you the exact same coverage limits and access to benefits.

To obtain a part-time policy, you would be working with/on your clients less than 10 hours a week in general. To obtain a full-time policy, you would be regularly working more than 10 hours a week directly with/on clients. When we say “with/on your clients”, we mean direct hands-on hours of performing your services which would exclude any administrative work, marking tasks, and/or any other non-service specific tasks that are performed with/on/for a client.

The process for adding an additional insured to your policy is simple. Please just contact us at 1 (866) 868-2689 and one of our trained reps will take care of the rest!

Yes, you can buy your policy at any time then select your start date up to any day 90 days in the future. For instance, if you bought your policy with us on October 3rd and don’t want your coverage to begin (for any myriad of reasons) until December 11th, you would simply tap/click December 11th as your start date at checkout.
