Just a Few of the Reasons We're the
Number One Cosmetology Insurance Choice
We Offer The Industry-Preferred Type of Coverage
Elite Beauty Society offers the industry-preferred Occurrence Form liability coverage and individual aggregate limits that protect you from any claims that may arise. Combined with our high insurance limits and superior customer service, our cosmetology insurance gives you the peace of mind that you are fully protected and if anything does happen, we've got your back.
Occurrence Form is the industry-preferred policy type over Claims Made because you are covered for any incident that occurred while your policy was in effect. We offer Occurrence Form so that our customers can rest easy knowing they're protected even if their clients delay making a claim. Even if your cosmetology insurance coverage has lapsed, you're covered and your license is protected as long as the incident occurred while your policy was active.
Instant Coverage, Immediate Certificate
Don't wait around for approvals or worry about providing education hours. Our policies are bound in minutes and you can immediately download a digital proof of coverage certificate from your member portal. Our online application takes less than 5 minutes, so you can get back to what you're best at faster.
Individual Annual Aggregate
We offer individual limits, meaning your policy will protect you up to the amount listed on your policy. Every insured beauty professional will have their own coverage, and the claims that others make will not affect the individual coverage amount available. This is unlike shared limits where the group shared limit is reached for the policy year, anyone who files a claim afterwards will not be covered under their individual limits.
You Deserve More Than Numbers
Policy numbers aren't everything. You deserve an insurance company that's going to be there for you when you need it and policy numbers that translate into real assistance for you. With us you can rest easy, because if the worst happens your policy limits include dedicated help from our licensed customer care team, legal defense if needed, and the cost of the claim.
What Services Do We Cover?
We offer coverage for more than 350 beauty and wellness services.
High Quality Service – Lowest Price, With No Hidden Fees

With Elite Beauty Insurance, no membership fees are required to become insured, and you receive all of the benefits and comprehensive coverage limits without any extra or hidden fees.
Cosmetology Insurance FAQs
What Kind Of Liability Insurance Do Cosmetologists Need?
Working with people face-to-face, using scissors, curling irons, and other instruments of the trade, there’s just too great a risk of an accident occurring not to hold professional liability insurance. At the bare minimum, a policy should have generous limits provided for both General Liability claims, as well as, Professional Liability claims.
General liability is commonly referred to as “slip and fall” insurance. This is because there’s a liability to you as a business owner simply from allowing customers to enter your premises. If a customer trips over a loose tile in your salon and injures themselves, they can hold you liable for the damages.
Personal liability is often called “malpractice” insurance. This coverage provides provisions for injuries and other loss events that occur in the event of you providing your service. If your hand slips with a curling iron and you accidentally burn your client, they may hold you liable for their injuries.
EBS’s comprehensive cosmetologist insurance policies go far beyond the bare minimum with additional coverage for product liability, rental property damage protection, stolen/damaged equipment protection, and even identity theft protection for members. It’s just one way we have your back, no matter what.
How Does EBS Know The Business Of Cosmetology?
At EBS, we are a community of beauty professionals and many of our associates have worked in the field, so we know just what an advantage a support system for your business and career can be. We understand the decision to purchase liability insurance can seem daunting, so we’ve created an in-depth guide to insurance just for beauticians. If you’ve still got questions, our knowledgeable sales representatives have the answers. Contact us at 800.326.5566 or email firstname.lastname@example.org, our hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 - 5:30 (EDT) and we even have weekend hours to be available whenever you need to run through all your options.
What Are The Coverage Limits Of An EBS Cosmetology Insurance Policy?
With a cosmetology liability insurance policy from EBS, you’ll have a $2 Million limit for both Professional Liability and General Liability claims, up to a $3 Million Individual Annual Aggregate. An Individual Annual Aggregate means you personally have a $3 Million limit each year, no matter how many claims are filed, as opposed to many carriers which “pool” claims for businesses. You’ll also have $2 Million in Product Liability coverage, which covers you in the event that a product malfunctions and causes loss or injury. In the event that a rented facility received damage, you’ll be covered up to $100,000. We also include $25,000 in Identity Theft Protection and $1,000 in Stolen/Damaged Equipment protection.
How Do I Find The State Board Requirements To Get A License?
The State Board of Cosmetology in the state that you want to offer services in is the governing body which will provide licensure, usually upon completion of education and examination. For example, the State Board of Cosmetology in Florida requires a full 1,200 hours in an approved cosmetology school and the successful passing of the state-issued examination in order to obtain a license.
Do Students In Cosmetology School Need Cosmetologist Insurance?
Absolutely. Even while still in school, you’ll be practicing your techniques face-to-face with real people. The smallest mistake or accident can unfortunately lead to a claim being filed against you. For the low cost of just $25 for a full year of coverage, our student policies offer an incredibly cost-effective means to protect you and your future business from claims against you while still in school. Plus, you’ll have all the same access to an incredible array of members-only benefits as our professional members included with the cost of your student policy.
How Do I Know If The Beauty Treatment I Offer Is a Covered Modality?
We cover more than 350 different beauty and wellness modalities ranging from hair, skin treatments, nail decorations, and even massage and yoga. We’ve recently added microblading and also continue to add even more services so be sure to check our covered modalities page if you don’t see yours currently listed. You can also call or email a knowledgeable sales representative to see if we can add your chosen modality to our growing list. Call 800.326.5566 or email email@example.com.
I’m Renting A Chair At A Salon, Do I Need Cosmetology Liability Insurance?
Absolutely. While cosmetology may seem fairly tame, no matter where, when, or how many hours you’re working, you’ll be using tools that can, and have, produced injuries to clients. While renting a chair at a salon, you’ll be classified as an independent contractor and not generally covered under the salon owner’s professional liability policy. That’s why it’s important to have your own coverage for any possible claim that can arise in the course of providing your services to clients.
What Are The Benefits Of Being An EBS Member?
In addition to the incredibly robust coverage limits of an EBS cosmetology policy, we offer a host of additional benefits to our members. For starters, our entire program has been tailored exclusively to beauty professionals - we even wrote a guide on it! You’ll also have access to the EBS resource center which holds a wealth of information on topics like setting up a successful business, education tools, eBooks, and so much more. As a member, we’ll provide a free customizable website to start getting the word out about your business to everyone searching online for the services you offer. In addition, EBS has solidified partnerships with some of the best names in the industry to offer members-only, exclusives on products and tools for discounts and early access to new items. We’ve even included a free subscription to a Creative Age publication of your choice, all so you can stay up-to-date with the latest tools and techniques.
How Do I Transfer My Cosmetology License From One State To Another?
The best resource for license information is the State Board that governs your modality in the state that you want to offer services in. The process can be lengthy, so it’s best to get started as early as possible when you decide you want to move your license from one state to another. Some states do offer reciprocity for licensure but this varies widely. For example, according to the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, out of state licensees can simply fill out a reciprocity application and pay a fee in order to receive a new license, as long as they have proof of a current license which has been active for three of the last five years and hasn’t been revoked or suspended. Often different states vary the amount of required education so you may need more training hours in order to satisfy your new state’s requirements.
What's The Difference Between Claims-Made & Occurrence Form Coverage?
Many carriers out there offer claims-made coverage because it’s simply more convenient for them to do so. This means a claim has to be made while a policy is active in order for it to be covered. We don’t believe in not covering something that rightfully should be so we offer occurrence form coverage. This means that even if your policy is long-expired, if a claim is made against you for an event that occurred while your policy was still in effect, you’re absolutely covered. It’s just one small way we make sure we’ve got your back.
How Much Is An EBS Cosmetology Insurance Policy?
Our rates are some of the best in the industry. We provide different options for cosmetologists to choose from so they can find what works best for them and their business. For a one-year policy, the current rate for beauty care professionals is $159, good anywhere you provide your services in U.S. For a two-year cosmetologist insurance policy, the rate is $279.95, a $38.05 savings over buying two, one-year policies. We also offer affordable cosmetologist student rates at just $25 for a full year of coverage.
Based on demand, we’ve also made available a benefits-only plan which provides identity protection, a professional website, and access to loads of discounts and special offers for an incredibly low rate of $39 per year.
How Soon After Purchasing A Policy Will I Receive Proof Of Insurance?
A really cool feature of our state-of-the-art insurance portal is the fact that, as soon as you complete your order, you’ll be able to instantly download proof of insurance. You can access our member portal from anywhere in the world where you have a connection to the internet.
