Top 3 Spots for Redesigning & Revamping Your Salon
Thrift Stores Galore
One of the biggest mistakes you can make in the redesign or revamp phase of your salon’s reno is to say no to thrift shopping before you even take a look at what the world’s got to offer. Look, we get it; used stuff might not have the same appeal as brand new stuff–but there are tons that new-to-you items you snag at a thrift store can offer you.
For starters, tons of stuff in thrift stores has either barely been used or never been used. Don’t get us wrong, there’s plenty of well-loved stuff out there that could be a great fit for your salon’s look, but if you’re very anti-used items, you can still thrift successfully. You might even luck out and find things with the tags, wrapping, or OG packaging still on them–it happens all the time!
Secondly, thrift stores offer you something new stores can’t always–personality on a budget. Don’t get us wrong; you can buy plenty of “new” things that feel vintage or funky. But odds are, you’re going to pay big bucks for brand-new things that fit your vibe.
The best part about thrifting? Style is cyclical. The looks that are currently super in for décor and design are being upcycled from previous generations. Know where you find items and décor from previous generations? Yep, you guessed it–thrift stores.
Maybe you’ll even luck out and be close to a salon or cosmetology-centric thrift store (they do exist, you know)!
Can We Get a “Yas” for Facebook Marketplace
One of the most underrated spots for scoring all the must-have items you want for your salon redesign is Facebook marketplace. Sure, you might have to deal with some less-than-desirable sellers, but if you put in the time searching, you can score some sweet pieces that may even fit your vision board exactly. FB lets you search pretty specifically, so if there’s a brand or a type of décor out there you like, it’s filtering power can likely lead you right to something you’re looking for.
Another bonus of FB marketplace? You can haggle. Obviously, we’re not advising that you sell people short, but it’s totally acceptable to politely negotiate on Marketplace. That’s not really the vibe in a more traditional store setting (though we’d kind of love to watch that play out).
People get rid of things for all kinds of reasons–maybe it doesn’t fit their space or their vibe. But their loss can be your gain (which, when you think about it, is kind of a gain for them, too).
Want to know one last fringe benefit of FB marketplace? You get the chance to interact with lots of new and local people who could become clients of yours. Consider it a free and casual version of marketing that doesn’t actually require any marketing effort whatsoever.
Business Discount Stores for the Win
There are lots of businesses out there that offer other companies major discounts when they shop–especially when they shop in bulk!
If you’re planning on ordering anything–especially multiples of anything–from a company, always do a thorough check to see if they offer businesses like yours any kind of discount.
So, what are your thoughts? Are you ready to hit up these budget-but-badass resources to find the absolute best in the biz decor and more? We sure hope so!
