The Spring Beauty Styles You Need to See

Spring is in the air–and that means new beauty trends are popping up in the industry like fresh tulips in the garden. This season is about more than just salon spring cleaning; it's about tossing out the old trends and making room for the new.

Want to make sure you're staying ahead of the curve when it comes to must-have styles your clients will adore this season? This blog has all the need-to-know details on what's about to be super hot this spring.

From hair cuts and colors to skincare, makeup, and more, this trend-focused article is all about staying in the know for must-try spring styles.

KEY TAKEAWAYS: In this blog, we're sharing the can't-miss Spring beauty trends that every cosmetologist should know. From side-swept hair styles and retro bobs to skin cycling, tone-on-tone nails, and more, this article has the inside scoop on what beauty pros like you need to know to please your clients this Spring.

Must-Know Spring Beauty Trends to be On Your Radar

Hair Spring Beauty Trends

Side-Swept Styles & Deep Side Parts

We're not here to ever hate on a middle part–BUT it's important to mention that side-swept styles are making a major comeback this Spring.

Retro Bob 'n' Bangs

Sure, it's a little edgy–but this spring is all about bringin' in a little fun glam to the hair world. To deliver this look, you'll go for sleek strands or defined curls alongside a very sharp perimeter. The key to this cut? Balancing that straight perimeter with a soft inside layer and some fringe. The best way to replicate this look is to work with your clients' jawline and focus on movement and fringy edginess.

Sticky Sweet Syrup Blonde

Take your blonde clients to new heights with dimensions that are so sweet and indulgent they'll give off literal syrup vibes. We're talkin' caramel, gold, vanilla–the warmer the better. If you've got blondes on your client list with lackluster locks who are seeking something springy and fun, a sweet syrup blonde is a must.

Feathered Layers (Here to Stay)

Curtain bangs and feathered layers might not be new trends, but they're not going anywhere, so they deserve a spot on the list. By now, you've probably got lots of practice giving your clients the cutest curtains and feather layers–and all that practice will continue to pay off. You can bet you'll still get a steady influx of customers seeking an adorable, feathery, layered look.

Punky Pixie Cut

If you've got clients ready for big changes this spring, a punky pixie is a must. Work with your client's bone structure to create a tousled, rebellious, and easy-to-style look that's choppy and full of edgy dimensions.

Have a client that wants to take this look even further? Pair this punky pixie cut with a pastel color (in honor of spring, of course) to create an edgy and feminine punk look that breaks all the rules (and looks good doing it).

Accessories Forever

Bows, clips, scrunchies, headbands, flower pins, headwraps, bold bobbies–you name it, the accessories are in. The good news about this trend? You can keep plenty of funky and fun accessories on hand in your retail shop–the bigger, bolder, and more exciting the better!

Skincare Spring Beauty Trends

Neuropeptide Focus

Retinol, hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C, and more have had a lot of esthetic focus in the last few years. Soon, however, you'll see an increased spotlight on peptides and neuropeptides. These neuropeptides are topical solutions that can target muscles and send signals that encourage them to relax. Will this be a solution to fine lines and wrinkles? No one's quite sure–but we do know that several products are popping up with this kind of neuropeptide tech.

Elevated Retinol Routines

Retinoids will continue to be super important for anti-aging and acne-fighting routines, but they're likely going to get an upgrade this spring. Keep an eye out for the new generation of elevated retinols, like hydroxypinacolone retinoate (HCP). This "retinoid" (but not retinoid) offers a lot of the same benefits as traditional retinol without the harsh side effects.

Skin Cycling

Get ready to see skincare solutions for overprocessed skin. If you're an esthy, get ready for your industry besties to start talkin' about skin cycling–the idea of giving skin nights off from active ingredients.

Skin cycling isn't a new fad in the industry, but it's taken a back seat in recent years. Now, it's back with a bit of a makeover with a hard focus on skin barriers.

Think you have customers who could benefit from a little skin cycling? Help them create ideal routines that swap out aggressive topicals for nights off with barrier-first products focused on soothing and healing.

Nail Spring Beauty Trends

Tone on Tone

Monochromatics meet a fun spring twist. If you're sitting there wondering "What color goes best with peach?" the answer is simple: more peach. Add in tone-on-tone colors alongside spring-y designs for a fun, bright, and fresh look.

Bonus points for purples, peaches, and lilacs! (It is spring, after all).

Mini Manis Meets Maxi

Picture a natural mani with soft shimmers and highlights that glimmer in the right light. This trend is all about coupling a minimalist, low-maintenance manicure with maximalist shimmers, glimmers, and layers. To make this trend even trendier opt for adding layers of chrome to make the look really pop.

Balletcore

The beauty world as a whole is being overtaken by all things soft chignon, pink blush, and ballet bows. Yep, the newest and latest thing is balletcore, and clients' nails are no exception to this blooming fad. Pink polishes are obviously a must–but you can elevate nail looks with a soft but shiny chrome finish to give a manicure an elevated, ballet-slipper style.

Makeup Spring Beauty Trends

Hyperglowy Skin

A client shows off her dewy skin, a spring beauty trend of 2024.

Fresh and dewy are spring makeup staples. Focus on forgoing the matte powders and foundations and opt for a "barely there" kind of coverage. Focus on monochromatic blushes, glossy lips, and dewy (almost wet!) skin that gives off the hydrated, plump, and spring-fresh look your clients will crave.

Balletcore (Again)

Soft pinks, blush chignons, and anything and everything ballet-focused is in right now–that includes makeup palettes. Your clients are going to be screaming for soft, feminine, ballet-inspired makeup looks that are polished, minimal, and always pink-centric.

Soft Glam

Femme, ethereal, otherworldly–however you want to describe it, glowy and soft glam is so in. Diffused lips, overly blushed cheeks, light coverage, and dewy skin is what's hot at the moment, so don't be surprised when clients come running to you asking for your best "soft glam" style.

Fluffy or Laminated Brows

Even though 90s brows are also making a comeback this spring, the fluffy, laminated brow is also making a name for itself in spring style. Full and fluffy are a much more approachable reach for most clients (especially since we spent all of the 2010s cringing at our pencil-thin 90s brows). Advise your clients to fluff up brows and shape them to their liking for their everyday looks. If they're after something a little more permanent, a laminate session could do the trick.

Minimal–But Playful

Not sure whata minimal but playful style looks like? We've got you. Picture a natural, sweet look that's more minimal than anything–then a layered pop of fun for a little "look at me" moment. This could be a subdued look with a light blue liner instead of a brown or black; a floating line of liquid liner in the crease against an otherwise minimal style; or even a swipe of sparkly highlights. The key? Color inside the lines AND outside the lines to balance this kind of moment.

The hottest beauty trend this spring? Killer coverage your business can count on. OK, OK–that's not exactly a style, but we'll tell you what–getting caught out without quality beauty liability insurance is a bad look (no matter the season).
