Spring Into Action: Prepping Your Salon, Shop, or Spa for Spring
Spring Cleaning, Storing, & Revamping Tips

You feel that, beauty pros? The chill is leaving the air, the flowers are starting to bloom, and the last whispers of winter are finally (finally!) disappearing–well, at least they’re starting to. Spring is on its way, and personally, we can’t wait.

Don’t get us wrong, winter is always one of our fav seasons, but there’s something about spring we can’t get enough of–fresh looks, warm temps, and the opportunity to prep our spaces, salons, spas, and shops for a new season of possibility.

Yep, we said it–spring means preparation. And, of course, we’re not just talking about spring cleaning (though, that’s pretty dang important if you ask us); we’re talkin’ about all the prep work you need to tackle before the spring season sweeps in.

Not sure what that looks like for your space? Don’t sweat it. As usual, we’re offering up some go-to advice that’s here to help! Keep reading to get a little springtime prep insight!

Top Tips for Preparing Your Salon for Spring

Ready for spring? If your answer is “umm…not quite,” then good news–you’re in the right place! These tips are going to get you in the spring state of mind you’ve been dying to find.

Start Your Spring Cleaning Engines

As we said, this blog isn’t all about spring cleaning–but we’re not about to not include spring cleaning on this list. Spring is the perfect excuse to give your salon or spa a good old-fashioned cleanout.

Ditch the winter mustiness, clear out whatever cobwebs may have formed (c’mon, you know that’s a thing that happens in the winter months), and give your salon the refresh it deserves (and probably demands at this point).

Need a little bit of guidance to get you going? Good news–we’ve got a Salon Spring Cleaning Checklist that’s sure to help guide you (or at least kickstart your clearing process).

Inventory Time

Spring is the perfect season to store (properly) all those winter products you were using and bust out the lighter, brighter, and more seasonally appropriate products.

You know better than we do that some seasons call for products with specific ingredients. Now that spring is in the air; your winter products might not be the go-to on your backbar anymore.

Make sure you’re noting your inventory, storing winter products properly, and busting out the spring products for the upcoming season.

Promote Your New Services & Events

It’s time to ditch that slow, hibernation winter mindset and kick your promo efforts into overdrive!

If you’ve got new services you were working on over the winter, now’s the time to promote them. If you’ve got new specials you were detailing for the last few months, it’s time to roll them out. Spring is a time of change, refresh, and action–so start promoting your salon, your services, and your events ASAP.

Put Your Best Marketing Foot Forward

Take a refreshed, recharged approach to your marketing. Look at what you’ve got planned for your marketing funnel.

Does everything seem aligned with the spring season? Do you have new and exciting content to share with your audience? Are you planning anything unique down the pipeline?

Take this opportunity to revamp and refresh your marketing efforts! Need a little help doing that? We dropped a few guides over the winter months to prepare you for this moment:

Refresh Your Retail Products

Just like you need to review and refresh your backbar inventory, you need to take a peek at your retail products, too.

It’s a new season, and that means your winter stuff just won’t cut it anymore. Spring is in the air, the sun is making an appearance, and summer is going to be here faster than you know it.

For all our estheticians out there, that means you should make sure you’re stocked up on SPFs for sale!

Evaluate Your Salon’s Employee Hours

Winter months can change the way you schedule your employees–shorter days mean fewer hours and fewer clients.

But with spring showing up, you can probably extend hours. Use this as an opportunity to check in with your employees, see how they’re feeling about their current hours, and ask them what changes make the most sense for them with the new season.

Ensure you can accommodate more clients without burning out your go-to employees!
