6 Ways to Help Clients Look More Hydrated & Refreshed
Tips for Hydrated Skin After Long Nights & Weekends
Hydrated skin is a look–and a lifestyle– that takes hard work, consistency, and lots of effort, right? As an esthetician, you know that glowy, hydrated skin doesn’t happen overnight.
And that sometimes, even if a client is consistent with their routine, a night out late (packed with salty foods, cocktails, and little to no sleep) can leave their skin looking dull and dehydrated.
There’s no one-size-fits-all quick fix, but you can help your clients look (and feel) more hydrated while they return to their normal skincare and health regimens (because, ultimately, consistency is key for glowy, healthy skin!).
Here are a few must-suggest tips for clients seeking a little boost of hydration and glow after long nights, weekends, or holidays out! (P.S., some of these tips apply to winter skin probs, too!)
The Top 6 Ways to Help Clients Look More Hydrated & Refreshed
Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize
This might sound like silly advice, but honestly, moisturizing with a skin-compatible moisturizer before bed and after their morning skincare routine can make all the difference in the world.
Often, when clients wake up dehydrated and tired from a night out, their skin is feeling the same dang thing. Encouraging your clients to find a reliable, heavy-duty moisturizer that’s compatible with their skin is a must for hydrated, refreshed faces.
Suggest Your Fave Vitamin C Serum
A gentle Vitamin C serum can help your clients’ skin look brighter, more vibrant, and a lot less dull–even if they’ve spent the weekend dodging sleep and their normal skincare routine.
Using a Vitamin C serum regularly can help boost collagen in your clients’ skin, helping it bounce back and look younger even when they don’t treat it correctly.
Is Vitamin C a one-use-fix-all kind of setup? Not at all! Vitamin C should be a regular part of your clients' routine. But when used consistently, it can help your client’s skin look and feel more hydrated and refreshed no matter what happened the night before.
A Quick Humidifier Sesh
For clients who can swing it, encourage them to snag a mini humidifier for the days (or nights) they feel they're struggling with dehydrated-looking skin.
A half-hour in a room that’s pumpin' in a little moisture can boost your client’s dehydrated look by a lot!
Encourage Your Clients to Up Their H20 Intake
Nope, this isn’t some super secret thing–it’s an obvious one. But honestly, if you really want to encourage your clients to look more hydrated and feel more refreshed, one of the only things that’s actually going to help them (that isn’t a makeup trick or a serum hack) is going to be boosting their water intake.
The best advice you can give your clients? If they’re ultra concerned about hydration and looking OK after a long night or weekend, they’ll need to hydrate as much as possible while they’re enjoying.
Does that mean your clients need to skip delicious cocktails, pass on yummy, salty food, and get 8 hours of sleep even when they’re partying? Not necessarily–doing this from time to time is a blast! But if they want to keep their skin (and overall look) hydrated, then staying hydrated during the party is going to make the ultimate difference.
Hydrating Gels & Masks
Opt for a hydrating gel, moisturizing mask, or even a face oil to lock in good, solid moisture in your clients’ skin. Look for products that contain ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid, lipids, ceramides, and more to help reinforce and hydrate your client’s skin barrier.
Primers are a Must Before Makeup
Makeup dries out your skin, even on your most hydrated days. If your clients add makeup to their dehydrated, struggling skin without proper prep, their look is going to suffer. If your client's skin is dehydrated, tired, and dull, adding makeup to the mix without properly priming the area isn’t going to help their cause. Encourage your clients to use primers and hydration gels before they apply makeup to avoid a dry, caked-on look.Hydration is key to actually looking hydrated–but these tips can help your clients get a little of their glow back ASAP while they rehydrate.
